Oils for Health Issues
Start with Sleep
The fastest way to turn your health around is getting REALLY. GREAT. SLEEP. Trust me, starting with sleep is so worth it!
MY SLEEP ROUTINE:
De-stress & De-tox Bath - 10 drops of Lavender + 2 cups of magnesium epsom salts (find at any store in the pharmacy section) will change your life! I also like to drink lemon water (2 drops in 8 oz. cup, drink w/ straw)
? Face Routine - After washing, I like to put 1 tsp. of coconut or olive oil in my hand, then add 2 drops of Frankincense and rub that over my face. All the regeneration powers of Frankincense will happen overnight while I sleep.
? Sleepy Oils - Lavender it up! It takes so little (just a few drops on the back of the neck before you lay your head down) to be knocked out! I also put rub my finger on the top of a Breathe bottle, then rub around my nostrils for open airways, increased oxygen, and better sleep!
❄ Cold Room - Experts say that a room closer to 70 degrees is the optimal sleeping temp. Here in AZ it's pretty much blasphemy to turn your AC down further than 75, so that'll have to do for me. And it works! Sleeping cold makes you sleep deeper. Huh, who knew?
Quick & Dirty Tips
? We've only got so much time in the day to do our essential oil research, amiright? Here are my quick & dirty essential oil uses. Browse 'em over, screenshot 'em, and even print this list & keep it with your oil stash!
? LAVENDER is all about sleep.
Use a couple of drops on your neck when you need a good night's sleep or you need to just relax a bit. It also has skin healing properties, so it's great to put a drop on cuts, itches, bug bites, or sunburns (will sooth & reduce pain).
? PEPPERMINT is all about relief.
A dab on the tongue stops nausea. 2 drops on your temples stops headaches. 2-3 drops rubbed on a muscle reduces pain.
? LEMON is all about cleansing.
Put a few drops in your water for a gentle detox. Add 10 drops to a spray bottle for cleaning surfaces. Rub on the bridge of your stuffy nose to clear it.
? MELALEUCA is all about skin.
Any fungus, rash, bump, infection, dry skin, dandruff, or body odor can be eliminated with this powerhouse. Dilute 2-3 drops with 1 tsp. olive or coconut oil and rub as needed. It'll sooth the area & heal it up.
? FRANKINCENSE is all about regeneration.
It can repair nerves & tissue. So apply it to your face before bed, rub on your chest for focus/memory, or apply to the skin to help virtually any issue.
? OREGANO is all about eliminating underlying infections.
This can be a powerhouse to issues with sinuses, lingering chest infections, yeast overgrowth, rashes, viruses, gingivitis, and more. It's a very strong oil that must always be diluted heavily (1 TBS. coconut or olive oil to 3 drops oregano).
? BREATHE is all about airways.
It can stop snoring, clear your nose/chest, ease coughing, and even improve sleep. Apply a few drops to the chest for relief.
? DIGESTZEN is all about the stomach.
It will reduce indigestion, heartburn, gas, stomach pain, cramps, or irregular bowel movements. Rub a few drops on the skin or dab on the tongue.
❤ ONGUARD is all about immunity.
You'll have WAY less reduced sickness in your house if you get into the routine of rubbing on the bottom of feet before bed. Best nightly immune-boosting routine ever.
? DEEP BLUE is all about pain.
Any knee, back, shoulder, or hip issue will be greatly relieved by rubbing the inflammation-reducer on the area. Just a few drops rubbed into the skin will give amazing relief.
Kids & Pets
? Perhaps you’re a little nervous to use oils on your kids; maybe you’re not sure if they’re entirely safe for the younger set. The good news is that essential oils CAN be used safely on children and you can get amazing benefits from them.
?Here are a few thing you need to know:
⓵ KIDS ARE NOT TINY ADULTS: Remember that oils are potent, and you only need a very small amount to achieve efficacy, especially when it comes to children. A little bit goes a very long way. Adjust amounts accordingly.
⓶ DILUTE: Kids’ skin is different from adult skin; it’s thinner and generally more sensitive. Even though most oils tend to be non-irritating on the skin (especially on the bottom of the feet, where the skin is thickest), it’s a great idea to dilute essential oil in a good carrier oil before applying to children. You’ll still get the same benefits of the essential oil—you’re just adding extra moisture and pampering delicate child skin. The doTERRA Touch products are great for this, by the way. They’re our favorites!
⓷ DIFFUSE: Aromatherapy is an excellent way to enjoy the benefits of essential oil without the worry of skin reactions. Inhaled oils have long been studied for their ability to enhance feelings of relaxation, encouragement, excitement, focus, and well-being.
